CGI identifies cost-effective and intelligent solution for the analysis and reporting of crucial Flood Risk Data.
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) is the UK Government department responsible for safeguarding the country’s natural environment. Defra sponsors the Environment Agency (EA), a non-departmental public body responsible for managing the risk of flooding from England’s main rivers, reservoirs, estuaries and the sea. Both bodies can report on the likely impact of a flood event, however manual processing of this data leads to old and inconsistent reporting of results. CGI’s partnership with Defra and EA has enabled the development and deployment of the Flood Risk Reporting Services to provide an efficient, unified means of accessing and analyzing accurate and up-to-date flood risk data.
CGI combined a cloud-based solution with an enterprise-ready database and a powerful business intelligence platform to deliver this service which was operational within 5 months.
The CGI solution means that the resulting data is presented in an intuitive, user-friendly application, they can be exported in a number of readable formats and the use of open-architecture will allow future enhancements to the service to be deployed cost-effectively with minimal disruption.
